Are you a different person online than in the real world???

Researchers at the University of Sydney are conducting studies into how people interact with each other online. How does this relationship develop? Is it different to the development of relationships between individuals who meet face-to-face? If so, in what way do these interactions differ? Is it the same for friendships and counselling contexts? Where does personality fit in? These are the questions we hope to answer in the course of our investigations.

Our current study is titled Relationships in Different Contexts: The Role of Time, Context, Trust and Personality. This research is being carried out as part of a Ph.D. project by Ms Melanie Nguyen and her supervisors Dr Andrew Campbell and Dr Steven Cumming.

With this website we hope to share our research, recruit voluntary participants to be part of the study and provide further information regarding online psychology.

The recruitment phase of this project has now ceased. Findings will be posted on the Present Research page as they become available. Thank you for your interest and please contact us should you have any further enquiries.

Thank you to City of Sydney Libraries for their assistance in the recruitment process. For more information on their services, please see the City of Sydney Libraries website.
